Missions

Along with serving as a media outlet that allows the people to keep the people informed concerning important news and info, The Ebon Run will function as a focal point where progressive projects will be launched geared toward progressing our people via collective participation.
Anyone harboring these missions may list them, indicate how their objectives may be accomplished, and inform readers how they may participate in order to bring said objectives to fruition.
The Run will give special emphasis to projects emphasizing autonomous progressive constructiveness--those missions allowing us to elevate our own people in our own ways and which result in increased autonomy, leading further and further to socioeconomic independence.

Instead of continuously fighting this present malevolent world system, let us just construct our own evolved and benevolent one:

Better to build the evolved world of the future
than battle the corrupt world of the present.

Mission #1: Electing a Black Leader
(Mission proposed by Keith B. Anderson)

This message is for all brothers and sisters who are enlightened enough to understand the necessity for Afro-America to elect a bona fide leader who is dedicated to uniting the resources and talents of our community into a centralized force capable of taking autonomous action to progress our people in our own collective manner.

A future edition of The Ebon Run--probably the most important one that will ever be published--will be a special one dedicated entirely to this extremely critical subject. It will be printed whenever enough content has been accumulated to fill its pages and enough advertisers have been found to sponsor its printing and shipping. It will contain between 24 to 40 pages, depending upon the number of advertisers and the amount of content submitted.

I invite all Black adult legal citizens of the United States to submit content regarding the above that will appear in said third edition.

Organizations (including religious establishments) have the option of having their members submit the content as a singular entity, with the members composing the organization’s proposals and making its nominations. The material must be submitted by an authorized organizational official. Organizations will be given first priority regarding being published in the newspaper.

Categories of Content:

Various subjects will be covered in the election edition that are essential to establishing an administrative model for our elected leader to follow. The ones that will be listed that are available for you or your organization to discuss are below. Submit your content on as many categories as you wish:

1) Your nominee for leader, his/her current occupation, and why you chose him/her. Nominees can be any Black adult citizens, but I'd recommend those not already in elected office and who are less likely to reject the nomination. Also: Should there be term limits, or should the leader(s) be elected for life? Word limit: 200. (Optional: Along with nominating a main candidate, you may list up to 9 others in order of preference along with their present occupations, numbering them 2 thru 10; do not include any other info. This will increase your chances of picking a preferred nominee who will accept. These extra nominees WILL NOT be counted against the word limit.)

2) The administrative structure itself. What departments/offices do you feel we need in our administration in order to fill all our needs? Will the heads be selected by the leader or elected by the people? Give a skeletal breakdown, in outline form, of how these various offices will function. (Be sure to include an office dealing with foreign affairs.) You may include a listing of the percentage of our resources that you feel should be directed toward the various social areas. For example: 10% toward education, 15% toward health care, etc. Also, what title should the leader be given: President? Minister? Chief? Something else? (Maybe you feel that a parliamentary type of setup is preferable.) What should the name of the administration itself be? Example: Council of Black America. How will your administration function: Nonprofit organization? For-profit organization? Partnership? Corporation? Co-op? Some other manner? (Do you feel that we should lobby for the right of the administration to be granted special-privilege, tax-exempt status as part of the compensation we deserve for the injustices committed against our people?) How will your administration get started and be funded? Word limit: 500.

3) Describe how your administration would handle the following issues: racism, unemployment and poverty, crime, education deficiencies, the domestic Black health deficit, and problems our people are facing in Africa. Word limit: 300.

4) The best way for our people to conduct a national election. Describe your proposed voting process. Word limit: 200.

5) What percentage of the adult Black U.S. citizen population should vote before a candidate is considered the official winner?

6) We must find a well-known organization to be the official national tabulator of the votes cast in the election. Nominate up to 10, numbering them in order of preference from 1 to 10. Include their contact info but do not include any other info.

7) Finally, where should our national headquarters be located?

8) (For organizations only): Does your organization wish to be listed as an official polling place where our people may go to vote?

9) Dynamic and/or unique programs you or your organization have designed to progress our people that you feel the administration should enact. Word limit: 200.

10) Short essay on why you feel it's important to elect a leader or establish an elected administration. Word limit: 100.

Because there's only so much space in the newspaper, those proposals not selected for publishing will be listed by title and author and will bear said author's contact info so that readers may access the proposals. ALSO: I'll try to list all proposals in their entirety on this website.

What Happens Next:

Even after the election edition is published, I'll post on this website the proposals and nominees accumulated up to then, as well as those coming in afterward. We'll set a deadline of, say, one year after the publishing of the election edition of "The Ebon Run" for everyone interested to send in their proposals. After that date, all entities who submitted the proposals will work in conjunction to establish a final, unified administrative proposal. The proposal will be complete and without word limit.

After that, THE ELECTION BEGINS! The BIG SEARCH will be on for the leader most believed by our people to be the one individual most capable of progressing our chosen administrative model. We'll all work in conjunction to inform our brothers and sisters of the available polling places. Voters will be required to bring all necessary identification info. The ballot will also be posted on the Web or will be available for a self-addressed, stamped envelope; however, voters will still be required to bring them to the polling places so that their ethnicity can be verified and their votes can be officially registered. When the specified percentage has voted (as indicated by our official national tabulator), we'll have our leaders. (Note: This method will be employed unless the participants regarding #4 dictate otherwise.)

Finally, the administration will be established and operated under the guidelines voted on by the submitters of the proposals.

If you're interested in getting the party started, start working on your proposal and e-mail it to me as soon as possible. Our dynamic Black potential is waiting to be unleashed!

END
